Preferred Provider Organization Health Insurance Information

PPO Insurance

An acronymn for Preferred Provider Organization PPO plans offer access to a special network of “preferred providers”, this includes primary physicians, hospitals, and medical specialists.

Including two different levels of coverage, PPO plans will provide you with one set of benefits for any health care you receive from providers within the network and another set of benefits for care you receive from the aforementioned providers outside of the preferred network.

So what exactly are these benefits? Preferred Provider Organization policies provide coverage for medical services including, but not limited to:

  • Hospital visitations
  • Emergency Room Care
  • Routine Examinations
  • Prescription Drugs
  • Outpatient Surgery
  • Annual Physicals
  • Specialist Care

PPOs tend to offer much more flexible coverage than traditional HMOs and as such are more expensive than HMOs.

Even though they’re more expense they certainly are affordable with decent monthly premiums and low copayments. Typically available with several deductibles you’ll often be able to choose a PPC that fits within your budgetary guidelines.

Many people choose Preferred Provider Organization health insurance policies if they prefer certain doctors that don’t happen to take part in restrictive HMO networks. PPO deductibles tend to price within $240 to $5,500.
